module 3:
making your violence policy
work for your company
DESCRIPTION AND EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

This module is a counterpart module to Module 2 (Harassment and Violence Policy).

The course objectives are to teach participants the essential components of how to implement workplace policy and make it effective for the purpose it was designed.

Participants will come to understand the importance of the relationship between an effective workplace violence and harassment policy and the mechanism the organization puts in place to educate all personnel about its policies. Participants will also learn about the need to put in place an effective protocol through which concerns can be raised and addressed.

Organizational personnel must feel safe in order to disclose concerns. Workplace violence and harassment policies that cannot be implemented out of fear of reprisal or because reporting violates the workplace's culture are hollow.

At the end of the course participants will know how to engage in a critical appraisal of how successful their companies have been in implementing existing workplace violence policies.
